About Bad Feminist UK

Welcome to Bad Feminist UK – the home for women who consider themselves feminists and may not fit the stereotype – or indeed, be ‘approved of’ by other feminists. We’re all bad feminists in different ways. For example:

– One team member has created copious amounts of porn for men and women.

– One team member enjoys cooking and doesn’t mind tidying up after a man if he lifts all the heavy boxes.

– Several team members have been known to remove clothes for the titillation of an audience – and money.

– Several team members have also been known to sexually objectify women – who were objectifying right back -and a good time was had by all.

However, we all adhere to feminist principles too, such as:

– Men and women should get paid equal money for equal work.

– Rape and domestic violence should be dealt with more effectively by the courts.

– Misogyny shouldn’t be put up with (and neither should misandry).

– Gender stereotyping is unhelpful in the vast majority of cases.

We will be posting about art, science, news, literature, inspirational people, politics, religion, food (but never diets) and anything else we happen to find interesting. Should you wish to join us, drop us a line.

    I completely agree with this:

“Gender stereotyping is unhelpful in the vast majority of cases.”

So why, at the beginning of the page, have you written:

“…the home for women who consider themselves feminists…”

Feminism isn’t just for women, or people who consider themselves women, but is a movement that should involve everyone – women, men, TGs and all. Only then will equality have a chance.

Eloquently put, Fizzy. However, we’d argue that writing material with a certain audience in mind is very different from gender stereotyping.

Bad Feminist was created primarily for women (which includes anyone who identifies themselves as a woman/lives as a woman) as feminism is something that is more pertinent to women (yes, it has knock-on effects to men, but they’re not actually earning 1/3 less than someone of the opposite gender in the same job; or facing harassment simply for wearing a short skirt; or seeing their rapist go free because the laws are so useless.) As such, while men are welcome here, it’s a home for women who consider themselves bad feminists. If a man wishes to post, and has something that we think fits with the site, he’s very welcome to get in touch though: indeed, we already have a few men who may be writing for the site.

Ooh, so glad I’ve stumbled upon this! I’ve just written a blog post entitled ‘Am I a Bad Feminist?’ , and I’ve loved reading the examples on this page. There are many different types of feminists, and in my opinion none are ‘better’ than any others, as long as they agree on the key principles you’ve stated here. Will be reading your blog with interest! 🙂
